INTRODUCTION

• Congratulations on your selection for the Shropshire  Academy Centre (AC).    
• England Hockey has a clear pathway with players able to progress from school and club to DC, then AC, then PC ( Performance Centre) and possibly then England National Age Groups (NAGS) There is a consistent approach to coaching at all levels with individual core skills a priority.   
• The AC will develop further hockey core skills.  Competition for AC players involves some developmental matches and leads to the competitive Midlands Counties Tournament.

INFORMATION

• Registration with England Hockey - Players should already have registered. Any player who has not done this must do so urgently. All players/ parents will need to log in update parental consent by ticking the relevant boxes. All communication to you relies on this being done and allows coaches to do player assessments on line.

• Training fees. these are paid by BACS and is detailed elsewhere.  Fees are based on amount of coaching provided.  
• U17 girls £

• U14 & U13 girls £. 

Should any player need financial support please discuss this with Jules O`Neill. No one should be excluded on financial grounds. 

• Kit. Players will be able to buy their own named and numbered  hockey shirt through the county aaproves supplier. Details of this and additional optional kit that can be purchased are on a separate document.  All Shropshire teams play in navy or dark blue skirts and players will be expected to supply their own hockey skirt/skort. Any style can be worn.  
• Communication. This will be done by e-mail and uses contacts you provide on the ehb player system. Please make sure all e mail addreses you want used are up to date on the ehb player system.
• Match fees Players who play in designated AC matches will be asked for a match fee on the day of £6.
• Travel. You will be expected to make your own way to home fixtures and to be there 45 minutes prior to the start of the match.  Shropshire Education Authority give us a grant towards transport costs so for distant away fixtures players may be able to travel together as a team.  For closer away fixtures players will be expected to get themselves there. • Matches.  Home fixtures will generally be at Meole Brace, Shrewsbury. Away fixtures may require an EARLY START.  Matches will often be triangular fixtures.
• Cancellation. Cancellation is unlikely (!)  Pitches are most commonly affected by very cold weather when they freeze and become unplayable. If there is any doubt contact your coach / manager or for home games at Meole Brace  ring 01743 351916                                         
• Availability.  If for any reason you are unable to train or play in a match due to an unavoidable clash of commitments, please ensure your coach / manager is informed well in advance.  In the case of last minute illness or injury make every effort to contact your coach, manager, or another official.                                                   
• U14 & U13 Training. This will be at Meole Brace on most Thursday from 6.00 – 8.00. Please try and arrive for 5.45 so the session can start promptly at 6pm. Make sure you have plenty of warm clothing and a drink for training and matches.       
• U17 and U15 squads  -Training will be less frequent and on Sundays. 
• Training and fixtures on separate attachment.
• HELP. If you will be bringing your daughter to training and fixtures and would like to help or get involved with Shropshire Hockey please speak to Jules, John or one of the coaches. No specific hockey experience is necessary.
